Sold April 2011 – Roseway Bungalow

My partner and I worked with Erin McGovney to sell one house and buy another in Portland and could not be happier with our experience. If we could, we’d sell and buy another house with her RIGHT NOW, that’s how fun it is to work with Erin.

Although we were concerned about the housing market slump and a possible long time on market, Erin was very optimistic about our prospects.  She came to our house, gave us a list of suggestions to make it more appealing (all of which were really great ideas we wish we had thought of ourselves — she has a great eye for color and design) and showed us our comps in our neighborhood so that we could make some realistic decisions.    

And Erin sold our house in one day!  Actually, we got multiple offers.  Then Erin helped us find the house we had always wanted to live in (and we had a long list of requirements) and worked it out for us so we could be in that house in time for the closing of the other house.

Throughout the process, Erin encouraged us to negotiate to get what we wanted out of the sale and the buy and made complicated things seem easy. She has a great network of people who also were wonderful to work with and Erin made sure that everything was worked out in the best possible way for us.

We’ve bought and sold houses before, but we’ve have never worked with someone we felt so comfortable with that we actually had fun during something that is generally a stressful experience.  We would highly recommend Erin to anyone buying and/or selling a house anywhere in Portland.

As someone who has had the pleasure of working with Erin McGovney as both a buyer and a seller, I would like to take this opportunity to express my complete satisfaction with both transactions.

With the purchase of my house, Erin demonstrated her impeccable knowledge of the real estate market by matching us up with the right house and getting the transaction completed in an incredibly short amount of time with almost no effort on our part. She has a wealth of experience, knowledge, and resources to draw from and is friendly and incredibly intuitive as well. She is both patient and thorough and helped us feel very comfortable with our buying decision.

Later, when the time came to sell our home, we again relied upon Erin’s top notch real estate skills. She handled everything efficiently and professionally. This was a great relief since the sale of the house was due to a divorce that involved some touchy situations, which Erin handled perfectly. The house sold unusually quickly in a market that made selling a house a difficult task at best. There was one key aspect that I believe really helped get the house sold. It was Erin’s keen ability to make suggestions for preparing the interior of the house for viewing. She knew just what to suggest to leave out on the kitchen counters and how to arrange the furniture. Her advice for staging on a budget while balancing time and priorities was truly invaluable.  I was also impressed with Erin’s extraordinary knack for designing and publishing listings. Her superior abilities were evident in her choices for layout, wording of descriptions, and photo acquisition and utilization.

I will be again turning to Erin for her assistance in purchasing my next home in the near future. I look forward to working with her as she makes buying and/or selling houses a sincere pleasure.

The process never felt out of control or nerve-wracking. Erin’s good reasoning skills helped us with many decisions, but she also knew when to take a step back.
